David Eugene Purvis, 49, longtime resident of Albuquerque passed away on Monday, August 11, 2008 after a lengthy illness. David was preceded in death by his father, Larry Purvis. He is survived by his mother, Claudine Purvis; sister Rebecca (Becky) Purvis; and many cousins, one aunt, additional family in Patten, Maine and numerous friends. David was born in Roswell, NM and later moved to Albuquerque where he graduated from Del Norte High School in 1977. Following graduation, David worked briefly for H. Cook Sporting Goods in Albuquerque before going to work for Charlie's Sporting Goods where he planned to only work until he figured out what he wanted to do. He worked at Charlie's for 28 years where he cheerfully greeted customers and friends with a "kelp ya" and chin nod. When not working, David could be found hunting, fishing, watching hockey or at the counter of the Owl Cafe where he regularly teased the waitresses, telling them to bring him "whatever or just surprise me." David touched many lives and will be missed and remembered by all who knew him.
