Obituary for ROBINSON

Richard S. Robinson, Col., USAF Ret. Robby, 87, was born in Camden, NJ, the son of Claude and Julia (Czkeli) Robinson. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Nancy A. Robinson; his children, Richard S. and Christopher D. of Dallas, TX, and Juli Robinson of Albuquerque; his daughters-in-law, Rufina and Jan; granddaughters, Amity Anderson, Kelly Mohr and Christine Robinson; great-granddaughter, Willow Anderson; and sister, Doris Grant of New Jersey. Robby's first and greatest love was flying. He built model airplanes growing up and went on to build two full-sized airplanes, including his P51 Mustang, named "Dead Bug," which has been donated to the New Mexico Museum of Military History. Robby enlisted in the NJ National Guard on July 3, 1939. He and Nancy settled in Albuquerque's North Valley when he retired from the USAF in 1971, after a long and happy career as a jet pilot. Among many other awards, Robby received the Legion of Merit, the Bronze Star and Air Medals. Robby will be buried in Arlington National Cemetery on October 23, 2008.
