Obituary for BARISIONE

Kathleen Elizabeth Barisione, 59, beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend passed away Monday, July 7, 2008, after a long and courageous struggle with cancer. Kathy will especially be remembered for her indomitable spirit, her love and acceptance of others, and her dedication to her teaching. Kathy graduated from Holy Names College in Oakland, CA, and received a Masters Degree in Special Education from the University of New Mexico. She taught special education at Washington Middle School until 2007. Kathy was preceded in death by her parents, Jack and Molly Brown, who passed away in 1991. She is survived by her sons, Brian Barisione and wife, Cindy of Alameda, CA; John Contreras of Phoenix, AZ; daughter, Marisa Barisone and husband, Patrick of Albuquerque; grandchildren, Zak and Sierra Barisione, and Kyle and Alex Contreras. Kathy is also survived by her sister, Joan Brown; brothers, Mike Brown and wife Carol; Kevin Brown and wife Sue; Marty Brown and wife Lisa, all of Albuquerque; many nieces and nephews and countless friends. A Wake will be held on Friday, July 18, 2008 at the Aquinas Newman Center at 7:00 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, July 19, 2008, at the Newman Center at 10:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be sent to Presbyterian Hospice 8100 Constitution Place, N.E. Albuquerque, N.M. in the name of Kathleen Barisione.
