Genevieve Martinez Ortega, 92, passed away on June 29, 2008, following a short illness in Albuquerque, NM. She is survived by three daughters, Mary Lou Ortega, Elizabeth Muniz, and Ramona Garcia; three sons, Rudy Ortega, Cecil Ortega, Jr. and wife, Lorraine, and Peter Ortega and wife, Cecilia; nine grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; sister, Maria Erlinda Fayette, of Roseville CA; sister-in-law, Adelina Ortega, of Santa Fe, NM; and many nieces and nephews. Genevieve was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Cecil Ortega, Sr. She was a member of La Union Protectiva' and Confriada de Nuestra Senora La Conquistodora in Santa Fe. Born in Los Brazos, NM, she resided in Santa Fe, NM, for the past 77 years. We will always remember her unconditional love, humility, integrity, and compassion. Her querida hija, Mary Lou, was her constant companion, long-term care giver, church, and casino partner. Rosary will be recited on Wednesday, July 2, 2008, at 9:30 a.m., at St. Anne's Catholic Church , 511 Alicia , Santa Fe, NM; followed by the Funeral Mass, at 10:00 a.m. Interment will proceed to Rosario Catholic Cemetery, Santa Fe, NM. Pallbearers include Alan Muniz, Carl Ortega, Mario Garcia, David Ortega, Dean Wells, Aaron Ortega, Carl Martinez, and George Woolley; Honorary Pallbearers include, Virginia Sapien, Gloria Duran, and Richard Noedel.
