Daniel James Caffrey, age 55, passed away on Sunday, June 29, 2008. Daniel was born and raised in Albuquerque, New Mexico. He graduated from West Mesa High School in 1971 and the University of New Mexico in 1976. Daniel met the love of his life, Deborah Jean Prescott, in late 1970's. They were married in August of 1972. Together, they raised three children in Anchorage, Alaska, where Daniel worked as an engineer. In 2001, Daniel retired and moved back to his home state of New Mexico. Daniel enjoyed his retirement and spent his time exploring the back roads of the Southwest and taking cross country road trips with his wife. He loved watching baseball and football with his family. Daniel was regarded by many as a cock-eyed optimist, and he spent his life pursuing knowledge and peace. Daniel was caring, curious, analytic, silly, introspective, adventurous, and loyal. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, and uncle, and he will be missed by many. Daniel is survived by his adoring wife of 35 years, Deborah; three loving children, Monica, Erin, and Mark; his granddaughter Maddox, grandson Finn, and one granddaughter on the way. He is also survived by his mother, Ann Reddy, and her husband, Robert Reddy; his two loving sisters, Ann Marie Caffrey and Cecilia Colucci; his supportive brothers, John, Michael, Kevin, Brian, Timothy, and Richard Caffrey. In addition, Daniel is survived by one brother-in-law, many sisters-in-law, and many nieces and nephews. Daniel was preceded in death by his father John in 1970, his brother Philip in 2002, his grandson Paxton in 2003, and his brother Christopher in 2007. A celebration of his life will be held on Friday, July 4, 2008 at his home near Santa Fe, New Mexico. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to Caring Bridge at http://www.caringbridge.org/.
