Obituary for DENHAM

Roy Day Denham, 82, died Sunday, June 15, 2008. He was born Sunday, March 21, 1926 to Clarence and Grace Denham. He grew up with five siblings in Independence, MO. During World War II, he served in the U.S. Air Force at Lowry Field, CO, and Kirtland AFB, Albuquerque, NM where he met his future wife, May Simms. After being discharged, Roy continued his education at UNM and Denver University, with a degree in Business and Accounting. He remained in Albuquerque earning his CPA, and opened his own firm, Denham and Company. Roy and May were both active in all levels of the Presbyterian Church. Roy was the first Moderator of the newly reorganized Synod of the Southwest in 1972-1973. He was an avid supporter of UNM football and basketball. Roy was very active in the athletic Lobo Club, the Petroleum Club and Kiwanis. He is survived by three sisters, Helen Wood, Rosebud Gard and Roberta DeKesel of Independence, MO and numerous other family members and friends. Roy was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, May; and brothers, Clarence and Charles. The family extends thanks to Cori Ewing, Dr. Peter Beaudette, and Betty Morrison for their thoughtful kindness. Memorial Services will be held Tuesday, July 1, 2008, 10:00 a.m. at Immanuel Presbyterian Church, 116 Carlisle Blvd. SE.
