Jose Horacio Chavez, age 75, passed away on June 22, 2008 at the Presbyterian Hospital in Albuquerque following an illness. Jose was born July 7, 1932 in Santa Rosa, NM to the home of Guadalupe and Josefita Ulibarri Chavez. He was reared and attended schools in Santa Rosa. Jose served in the Army from 1952 through 1954, where he received the National Defense and Good Conduct Medals. Jose married Soledad Sena on May 7, 1960 in Santa Rosa. He was a parishioner at St. Rose of Lima Church. Joe worked for many years at the Conoco Station and as a Parts Manager for Travel Centers of America. He enjoyed fishing, camping, working around his house, and playing solitaire on the computer. He is preceded in death by his parents; and his brother, Eddie Chavez. Survivors include his wife Soledad of the family home in Santa Rosa; his son, Johnny Chavez of Albuquerque; daughter, Elizabeth Kiser and husband Keith of Clovis; grandchildren, Jarod Kiser, Monika Kiser and Heather Chavez. Also surviving are his brothers Alfonso Chavez and wife Stella, Jesus Chavez and wife Henrietta all of Amarillo, TX, Sammy Chavez of Santa Rosa; his sister, Patsy Gallegos and husband Jerry of Santa Rosa; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and a host of relatives and friends. Rosary Services will be held on Wednesday, June 25, at 7:00 p.m., from St. Rose Church. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, June 26, at 10:00 a.m., also from St. Rose Church with Father Nick Nichols officiating. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery. Serving as Pallbearers will be Jarod Kiser, Andres Zamora, Sammy Chavez, Phillip Romero, Arnold Gallegos, Faustin Sena, Joseph Flores and Jude Flores. Serving as Honorary Pallbearers will be Arthur Baca, Ralph Sena, Andy Zamora, and Eddie Salazar.
