Ernesto Jiron was born December 13, 1934. He went to be with the Lord on Thursday, June 19, 2008, in Albuquerque. Ernesto was preceded in death by his parents, Antonio Jiron and Felipita Sandoval; grandparents, Feliciano and Lucia Jiron, Albino and Nobertita Sandoval; brother, Jessie Sandoval; sisters, Diane Sandoval and Lorraine Gallegos; brother-in-law, Ceasar Contreras; son, Harold "Caco" Jiron; daughter, Sylvia D. Jiron de Gonzales; his grandsons, Joshua Gutierrez and Martin Antonio Jiron; and mother-in-law, Margaret Gutierrez. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Carmen Jiron, of the family home; his children, Judy Garcia and husband Jose, Wanda Santos and husband, Francisco, Shirley Jiron and friend, Rey Delgado, Alvin Jiron and wife, Charlene, Darlene Salaiz and husband Heriberto, Christina Almeida and husband, Pedro, Linda Jiron and friend, Jorge Rodriguez, Ernest Jiron and wife, Tonya, Feliciano Jiron and wife, Johanna and Crystal Flores and husband, Adrian; brothers, William Jiron and wife, Dolores, Albert Jiron and wife, Bella; sisters, Rose Contreras and Nobertita Sanchez and husband Sevedeo; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives and friends who loved him and will miss him dearly. Services will be held at San Jose Parish, 2401 Broadway Blvd., SE, with a Rosary being recited at 7:00 p.m. on Monday, June 23, 2008. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, June 24, 2008, at 10:00 a.m., with Burial following at San Jose de Armijo Cemetery, off of Coors and Arenal SW. Serving as casket bearers will be Daniel Jiron, Richard Gutierrez, Andrew Jiron, Gerald Romero, Julian Jiron, Jesus Munoz, Martin Gutierrez, Fernando Jiron, Christian Sanchez, Cecil Romero, Maximus Jiron, Gunnar Jiron, Antonio Campos, and Shane Twiddy. Serving as honorary bearers will be his grandchildren and the Hermanos de Nuestro Senor Esquipella, Hermanos de la Faternidad Piadosa de Nuestro Padre Jesus Nazoreno.
