Obituary for BELT

Normand G. Belt, 81, of Albuquerque, beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend, went to be with his Lord Thursday, June 19, 2008. He was born July 22, 1926 in Sheridan, AR, the second son of the late Emile and Josephine Belt. He obtained his Electrical Engineering degree from the University of Arkansas in 1951 prior to working for Arkansas Power and Light Company for 17 years. Norm finished his engineering career in Albuquerque, NM with the San Antonio Texas Engineering Division, Kirtland Air Force Base for 23 years. He was a part of the greatest generation serving in the US Navy during WWII, Pacific Campaign. Popa was an avid fly fisherman and Scoutmaster, Troop 394. Norm is survived by his wife of 60 years, Martha Sue Belt of Albuquerque; daughters, Norma Sue and husband, S.E. Stepter of Fort Worth, TX and Johnnie Lou Belt of Albuquerque; sons, David Belt of Albuquerque and Barry Belt and wife, Sarah of Broken Arrow, OK; 11 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and brothers Macon Belt and Marion Belt and wife Ann, all of Sheridan AR. He was preceded in death by his brother Neal Belt. B-Pa was a member of the Church of Christ for 60 years and a faithful member of the Northeast Church of Christ here in Albuquerque for 11 years. A Memorial Service will be held at the Northeast Church of Christ, 11000 Paseo del Norte NE, 87122 on Saturday, June 21, 2008 at 2 p.m. Interment will be at Santa Fe National Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
