Obituary for PROETT

William W. Proett, long-time educator at Albuquerque Academy, passed away in Denver, CO on May 21, 2008. He was the son of Herman and Mildred Proett and was born on February 27, 1930 in Ong, NE. He began his teaching career in Eldora, IA and then taught at Lake Forest Academy, Lake Forest, IL for eight years. He and his family moved to Albuquerque (and later to Placitas) in 1969 where he taught chemistry for 22 years. He also helped coach football for many years at the Academy. He retired from teaching in 1991. Bill was skilled in woodworking and in retirement was active with Habitat for Humanity. Bill and his wife Jo moved to the Denver area in 2007 to be near their son Michael, his wife, Noriko, and their two children, Zoe and Theo. Bill is also survived by his sister, Delaine Halberg, of Hudson, WI. A memorial service was held in Centennial, CO on May 28, 2008.
