Obituary for SOKOLOV

Lionel Reid Sokolov, 88, passed away on May 14, 2008, after a strong battle with Parkinson's disease in Albuquerque, NM. He was born April 18, 1920, in Manhattan, NY, to Harry Sokolov and Bessie Reid. Lionel was a resident of Albuquerque since 1986, leaving the longtime family homes in Sands Point, NY and Bellport, NY. Lionel was a World War II Veteran, who served with the United States Army. He was an avid art collector, tennis and sailing enthusiast in his earlier years. Lionel was a builder for many years on Long Island. He and his wife, Lee, loved to travel, especially to Europe making Majorca, Spain their home for three years back in the 70's. Lionel will be sorely missed by all who knew and loved him. He is survived by his beloved wife of 59 years, Rosalie (Lee); children, Bruce David Sokolov and Donna Lee Pedroncelli, and husband, Manuel, all of Albuquerque; three grandchildren, Marisa, Julian, and Zachary Pedroncelli, all of Albuquerque; brother, Bernard Sokolov and wife Helen of NYC; two nieces, Lisa Sokolov-Gonzalez and husband, David, and Caren Maietta, and husband, John, all of NY; and numerous other family members. Memorial reception will be held Monday, May 19, 2008, from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm at the Pedroncelli home, 8020 Oso Loco Dr. NE, 505-822-1442.
