Obituary for PUGLISI

Margaret Elizabeth "Peggy" Puglisi, 90, passed away on May 17, 2008 in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Peggy was born on February 15, 1918 to Kieran Raftery Hayunga and Ellen Euerista Tobin Hayunga. She graduated from Mount Saint Mary on the Hudson in Newburgh, New York and entered the nursing program at Misericordia Hospital in New York City, where she practiced as a registered nurse throughout World War II. She married Charles John Puglisi on September 12, 1942 in New York City. They were married for 64 years, and they celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary with their children and grandchildren, followed by a trip to Bermuda. Peggy lived in Albuquerque with her family for 53 years after moving here in 1955. After raising her children, Peggy practiced nursing at Lovelace Clinic in the Rheumatology department from 1970 to 1975. She was a member of the Holy Ghost and Our Lady of Fatima parishes in Albuquerque and was an active member of the Rosary Altar Society at Holy Ghost parish. She was an active member of the American Cancer Society, where she raised funds for the society for over twenty-five years. She is preceeded in death by her parents; husband, Charlie; and sons, Charles, Bobby, and Brian Puglisi. She is survived by sons, Richard L. Puglisi and wife, Anne Marie of Albuquerque and Timothy S. Puglisi of San Antonio, TX; daughter, Peggy Ann Lindner and husband Peter, of Albuquerque, NM; grandchildren, Thomas Charles Fackelman and wife Elaine of Nutley, NJ, Taryn Ellen Ozdoba and husband Jonathan of Albuquerque, Peter Jeffrey (P.J) Lindner of Monsey, NY, Richard L. Puglisi, Jr. and Robert J. Puglisi of Albuquerque and great grandchildren, Tyler Charles Fackelman of Nutley, NJ and Tanner Douglas Ozdoba of Albuquerque. A Rosary will be recited on Tuesday May 20, 2008 at 11:30 am at John 23rd Catholic Community, 4831 Tramway Ridge Drive NE, Albuquerque, with Mass to follow at 12:00 Noon.
