Charles Moreno Jones passed away April 19, 2008, in Gainesville, GA one week after his 85th birthday. Charlie grew up in Quincy, Panacea and Sopchoppy Florida. In recent years, he lived part time in Albuquerque with his beloved wife of 21 years, Marita Mae McCanna Dickinson Jones, who preceeded him in death in November of 2004. An avid outdoorsman, Charlie was a pilot for Eastern Air Lines for 33 years until his retirement. He got his pilot's training in the Army during WW II, serving in the 466th Bomb Group 785 Bomb Squadron. He is survived by his three children, David Jones from Mt. Airy, North Carolina, Virginia Jones Moss from Atlanta, GA and Barbara Jones Roberts from Dawsonville, GA, as well as four stepdaughters: Debbie Deakin from Ft. Collins, CO, Lauri Dickinson and Joani Murphy from Albuquerque, NM, and Kati Hays from Bainbridge Island, WA. A Private Ceremony will be held in Florida on May 8, 2008.
