Obituary for OVERTON

Helen Thomas Overton, beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great- grandmother, died peacefully at The Montebello on Friday, April 11, 2008. She celebrated her 99th birthday March 26, 2008, among several family members and friends. A resident of Albuquerque since 1947, Helen was an active member of The Tuesday Literary Club, a docent at the Albuquerque Museum of Art and served as President of the YWCA Board. She was a lifetime student of art, music, history and literature who traveled extensively. Helen was preceded in death by her husband of 67 years, Dr. Lewis M. Overton. She is survived by her three children, Nancy Covalt, Lewis M. Overton, Jr. and wife, Priscilla Franklin, and Mary Pashyo; grandchildren, Cale Carson III, David Carson, Jane Cooley, Mary Matteucci, Thomas Overton, Anne Merkert, Cyrena Schroeder, Rasila Lester, Rebecca Covalt, Kathleen Covalt, and Martin Covalt; and eighteen great-grandchildren. Helen was a member of First Presbyterian Church where a memorial service will be held at a later date.
