Colonel Kermit O. Lindell (U.S. Army retired), age 87, passed away March 29, 2008 in Saline, Michigan. "KO" was born December 6, 1920, in Warren, Minnesota. He enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1939 and won an Army appointment to the United States Military Academy, entering West Point in 1941 and graduating on D-Day, June 6, 1944. KO was assigned to the Army Corps of Engineers and served tours in Japan, Turkey, Korea, and Vietnam, as well as tours stateside. He retired from the Army in 1972 in Albuquerque and entered the MBA program at the University of New Mexico, earning his MBA degree in 1975 and subsequently passing the CPA exam. He worked as a CPA until his "second" retirement in 1981. He resided in Albuquerque until his move to Michigan in late February 2008. KO is survived by his wife of 51 years, Marian, of Saline, Michigan; daughter, Susan Gieseker and husband, Donald, of Saline, MI; Karen Tortora and husband, Aniello, of Brooklyn, NY; and Virginia Chouinard and husband, Mark, of Albuquerque; and grandsons, Jacques Chouinard; Philip, Samuel, and Nathan Gieseker; and Nicholas Tortora. A private Family Service has been held, and internment has taken place at the Santa Fe National Cemetery.
