Obituary for GREEN

Charles W. Green, a resident of Albuquerque, NM, since 1960, passed away at Montibello Senior Living Community, Tuesday, March 25, 2008, after a short illness related to age. He was born in Saint Francisville, Illinois, September 30, 1915, to Daisey Mae and Frederick Curtis Green. After graduation from High School, he pursued a career as a meat cutter in Knoxville, TN. On August 13, 1937, he married Novella Cusick, and the couple soon relocated to Olney, Illinois, where he was the Meat Department Manager for the Kroger Store, at the corner of Main and Walnut Street. In 1944, he purchased the Fox Cleaner and renamed it Green's Cleaner. He was a business man and active community leader in Olney until he sold the business and moved to Albuquerque, NM, in 1960. While in Albuquerque, he sold insurance for Rocky Mountain and Paul Rever Insurance Companies and then finished his working life selling sporting goods at the Montgomery Ward store. His first wife, Novella, preceded him in death, in 1994. They had three children, Charles David Green of Leesburg, FL, Sarah Louise Colby of Covington, OH, and Mitzi Mae Loftus of Albuquerque, NM; surviving are six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. In 1996, he married an old friend and acquaintance, Barbara Doenges, of Olney, Illinois. They had a number of happy years in the house they built, in Albuquerque, and then later at Montibello, in Albuquerque, NM. "Charlie" will be remembered as a loving husband and father, an active church and community leader, and after these, an avid fisherman. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in his memory to the American Cancer Society- Ohio Division, Inc., 5555 Frantz Rd, Columbus, OH, 43201.
