Robert "Bobby" Romero, 71, went home to be with his Lord on Saturday, March 22, 2008, at his home in Socorro, NM surrounded by his loving family. He was born November 20, 1936, to Pete and Julianita (Herrera) Romero in Socorro, NM. He taught in Cuba, Magdalena, and at the Socorro Public Schools, where he retired after 37 years of teaching. He was active with the New Mexico Boys State since 1961. He is preceded in death by his brother, Daniel Romero; and his sister, Ernie Esquivel. He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Loretta (Lucero) Romero, of their home in Socorro; daughters: Juanita Romero and fiance, Gary Apodaca, of Polvadera, NM; Rozeanne Zamora of Ft. Worth, TX; Roberta Torres and husband, Felix III, of Socorro; and Robin Romero of Socorro; brothers: Gene Romero and wife, Rowena, of Socorro; and Raymond Romero and wife, Anita, of Los Lunas, NM; sisters: Jennie Aragon and Lucardia Clark, both of Albuquerque, NM; and Dolores Yonker and husband, Mike, of Gilbert, AZ; grandchildren: Jeremy Peralta, Jeffrey Zamora, Randall Zamora, Ashlee Romero, Brandon Romero, Darrien Torres, Melody Romero, Gabriel Torres, Mackenzy Peralta, Garee-Celine Apodaca, and Lola Apodaca. A Rosary was recited on Tuesday, March 25, 2008, at 7:00 p.m. at the San Miguel Catholic Church in Socorro. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, March 26, 2008, at 10:00 a.m. at San Miguel with Father Andy Pavlak as Celebrant. Burial will be in the San Miguel Cemetery. Pallbearer will be Jeremy Peralta. Honorary Pallbearers Jeffrey Zamora, Randall Zamora, Ashlee Romero, Brandon Romero, Darrien Torres, Melody Romero, Gabriel Torres, Mackenzy Peralta, Garee-Celine Apodaca, Lola Apodaca, Felix Torres III, and Gary Apodaca.
