Georgine "Jean" R. Durka passed away Thursday, March 6, 2008 in Albuquerque. She was born in Newark, N.J. on May 9, 1945 to Hazel and George Letts. Jean was raised in Keyport, N.J. and met her husband, Nick Durka there. They moved from New Jersey to Albuquerque in 1975. She recently retired from the University of New Mexico. She had worked for the past 10 years at OMI after working 24 years for NMERI. Jean is survived by her husband, Nicholas Durka; brother, Robert Letts; sister, Susan and husband, Sal Bumbico; and in NM by her sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Marie and Robert Abrams and her niece and godchild, Kelli Abrams; and many other nieces and nephews in N.J. She was preceded in death by her parents, and sister, Dorothy Corrado. Services will be held on Monday, March 10, 2008, 11:00 a.m., at French Mortuary, Lomas Blvd. Chapel, 10500 Lomas Blvd. NE. Cremation will follow services. Friends and family may visit French Mortuary, Lomas Blvd. Chapel, 10500 Lomas Blvd. NE, on Sunday, March 9, 2008, 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to Cycle for Sight, P.
