Obituary for HARBAUGH

Published in the Albuquerque Journal on Tuesday March 04, 2008

Marjorie (Marge) Harbaugh, 87, a longtime Albuquerque resident, passed away Thursday, February 21, 2008. Born and raised in Kearney, NE by her parents, Frank and Serena Hollingsworth, Marge graduated from Kearney State Teachers College with a degree in Home Economics and then worked as an accountant for the Union Pacific Railroad before marrying her college sweetheart, James (Jim) Harbaugh in Atlanta, GA where Jim was taking flight training after joining the Navy during World War II. Marge was a Navy wife for twenty-six years; living in over 20 homes in the United States and the Far East. She and Jim raised three sons and a daughter in a loving, caring home environment. Marge raised her children for many years on her own while Jim flew planes off aircraft carriers in the Pacific. Her first passion was her family. She was the glue that held the family together: a bottomless well of support and love. She was a true lady: kind, gentle and caring. She will be sorely missed. Marge was an accomplished bridge player: a "Silver Life Master". She loved to participate in bridge tournaments and she loved to raise her roses. Her backyard was filled with over 300 rose bushes. She is survived by her four children, son, Scott and wife, Sondra along with their two sons, Jeff and Gus and wife, Joanna; daughter, Debra; son, Larry and wife, Jeanne along with their four children, Michael and wife, Robin, Rebecca and husband, Tracy, James and Catherine; and son, Rick and wife, Cheryle and their two children, David and wife, Jenn and Tracy and husband, Timothy; and brother, Gerald Hollingsworth, his wife, Nelda and their son, William, all of Cheyenne, WY. Marge is also blessed with seven great-grandchildren. Marge was preceded in death by her husband, Jim in 1985. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 8, 2008, 10:00 a.m., at French Mortuary, 10500 Lomas Blvd. NE. She has already been interred at Santa Fe National Cemetery with her husband, Jim - together again. French Mortuary, Inc. 10500 Lomas Blvd. NE 505.275.3500 www.frenchmortuary.com
