Ramon J. Lucero, 75, a resident of Albuquerque since 1956, passed away on Monday, February 11, 2008, after a long illness. He is survived by his two sons, Orlando Lucero and Albert Lucero and wife, Loretta, all of Albuquerque; former wife and close friend, Elena E. Lucero of Albuquerque; sister, Ignacita Lucero of Pueblo, CO; brother, Arturo A. Lucero of Albuquerque; and numerous nieces and nephews throughout New Mexico and Colorado. Ramon was preceded in death by his sister, Florentina Montano; and his parents, Jose S. and Carlota Lucero. He was born on May 14, 1932 in Las Vegas, NM. After school he entered the U.S. Air Force and served honorably during the Korean Conflict. Upon his return to New Mexico, Ramon attended DeWolf's Beauty College in Albuquerque where he received his cosmetology license. He married Elena E. Romero, of Las Vegas, on December 26, 1956. Ramon owned and operated Sur-Groom Hair Designs for over 30 years. He then retired and was an entrepreneur owning and operating Mr. Acoustic and Superior Building Maintenance, Inc. Ramon was very active in Our Lady of the Annunciation Catholic Church, serving as a Eucharistic Minister and feeding the homeless. He had many friends in the community. Ramon was a loving husband and father and will be deeply missed by all who knew him. Cremation has taken place and a Memorial Rosary will be recited at French Mortuary, Wyoming Blvd. Chapel, Monday, February 18, 2008, 7:00 p.m. Memorial Mass will be held Tuesday, February 19, 2008, at Our Lady of the Annunciation Catholic Church, Claremont and Vermont Streets, 10:30 a.m. followed by interment of cremated remains at Santa Fe National Cemetery at 1:00 p.m. Should friends desire, memorial contributions may be made in Ramon's name to the Society for Progressive Supranuclear Palsy, Executive Plaza III, 11350 McCormick Rd., Suite 906, Hunt Valley, MD 21031.
