Obituary for PATTERSON

Robert Rex Patterson was born December 10, 1938 in Watseka, Illinois to George O. and Ruth Helen Young Patterson. He died February 8, 2008 in Albuquerque. Bob graduated from Onarga High School in 1957 and attended the University of Illinois. While serving in the Army as a paratrooper in the 101st Airborne "Screaming Eagles", he met and married Sharon Sue Wolfe on March 28, 1964. Bob and Sharon moved to Las Cruses, NM where he earned his B.S. and Masters Degree in fisheries biology from NMSU. After retiring from the NM Department of Game and Fish, Bob spent several years as an official umpire for Little League Baseball. When his son Bryan suffered a brain injury, he became an advocate for victims of brain injury, lobbying the legislature on their behalf. Bob is survived by his loving wife, Sharon; sons, Bryan (Tyrell) and David (Jamie); brother, George; sister, Ruth Ann (Bob) Glover; brothers-in-law, Scott (Donna) Wolfe and Grover (Susan) Wolfe; several nephews and nieces, and many, many friends. A Graveside Service with full military honors will be conducted at 3:00 p.m. Friday, February 15, 2008 at the Santa Fe National Cemetery. A Memorial Service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 16, 2008 at LIFE at Mission Viejo, 4601 Mission Bend, Santa Fe.
