Bernardo "Bernie" Chavez, 66, lifelong resident of Albuquerque passed away on Sunday February 10, 2008 at home with his family. He was preceded in death by his parents, Solomon & Guadalupe Chavez and sister, Priscilla Dauber. He is survived by his wife, Eva Chavez, daughter, Normanda Chavez; son, Gabriel Chavez and beloved grandson, Gabriel Chavez Jr. He is also survived by his twin brother, Peter Chavez, brothers, Jacob Chavez, Robert Chavez; sisters, Frances Romero and Anna Maes and many other dear family and friends who loved and will miss him. Bernie was born and raised in Martineztown. He was a retired U. S. Postal Letter Carrier, a 1960 graduate of Albuquerque High School and an original member of Los Madrugadores Golf Club. The family would like to thank the staff and special friends from NM Artificial Kidney Center for their support and courage during the last 9 years. Visitations for Bernie will be held on Wednesday, February 13, 2008 between 5:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. with Rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. in the 8th Street Chapel of Daniels Family Funeral Services. Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, February 14, 2008 at 10:00 a.m. at the Spanish Seventh Day Adventist Church located at 5200 Iliff Road NW. Interment will take place at Mount Calvary cemetery following the service. Pallbearers will be Juan Gonzales, Mike Malone, Ernest Gutierrez, Gerald Padilla, Porfirio Lopez and Ray Ortiz. Honorary pallbearers will be Edwin Sanchez and Ricardo Maldonado.
