Obituary for BLACKLOCK

Published in the Albuquerque Journal on Tuesday February 12, 2008

Dorothy Leona Blacklock, born July 10, 1922 in Wood River, Illinois, transferred to heaven on February 10, 2008. She lived 85 years, thanks to the grace of God, the skill of the Lovelace physicians, surgeons, and nursing staff, and her own German stubbornness. She loved life! Dorothy was a devoted wife and mother and "the best grandma ever". She was married for 47 years to Gordon Daniel Blacklock, Sr., founder of Danlin Products, Inc., where she helped manage the business. Together they enjoyed camping, traveling in the US and internationally, square dancing and playing bridge. But, in the past few years, she lived for Tuesday bridge club. She was preceded in death by her husband, Gordon; sister, Margaret Whittler; and brother, John Harsh. She is survived by her daughter, Linda Skogmo and husband David; son, Gordon Daniel (Dan) Blacklock, Jr. and wife Jan; sister, Vi Nixon; sister Naomi Eddinger and husband Keith; grandchildren Lisa Blacklock, MD; Matt Skogmo and wife Nicole; Brian Blacklock and wife Mica; Casey Dunning and husband James; David Blacklock and fiancee Rachel Carr. She has one great grandchild, Josiah Blacklock and two more on the way. Many relatives and dear friends will miss her sweet smile and giggle. In spite of her many physical problems, her mind remained sharp, and God granted her desire to live independently to the end. "I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness." 2 Timothy 4:7,8. Memorial service Tuesday, February 12, 2008 at 10:30 a.m. at French Mortuary Lomas Chapel with Minister Darrell Carpenter officiating. Interment will be in Santa Fe National Cemetery.
