Obituary for VELARDE

Anita Maria Velarde, a lifelong resident of Albuquerque, New Mexico, left on her journey Home to the Lord on January 24, 2008. Anita, known as Annie, was born on December 16, 1918. She is joining her husband, Alex Velarde and other family who left before her. Annie is survived by her daughters, Marcie McClaflin and husband, George, Alice Rodriguez and husband, Paul; and her sons, David Velarde and wife, Lorraine, Arthur Velarde and wife, Mary, Samuel Velarde and wife, Melva, and Albert Velarde; and also by her ten grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. Annie was a devout Catholic and was a member of the Queen of Heaven Parish. She touched the lives of all who knew her and will be greatly missed. A viewing will be held on Sunday, January 27, 2008 from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. followed by a Rosary at 7:00 p.m. at Salazar & Sons Mortuary, 400 Third St. SW. A Mass will be held on Monday, January, 28, 2008 at 11:30 a.m. at the Queen of Heaven Parish, 5311 Phoenix Ave. NE, followed by a procession to the National Cemetery in Santa Fe, New Mexico. The pallbearers are Arthur Velarde, Samuel Velarde, Adam Velarde, Kimberly Velarde, Marcos Gutierrez, and Albert Velarde. Honorary pallbearers are Annie's grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Annie's family would like to thank the staff of the Ladera Nursing and Rehabilitation Center for their dedication and professionalism.
