Montie Wharton Walk, age 99, passed away on Thursday, January 17, 2008 in Albuquerque, NM. She is survived by her son, Bill Walk and wife, Peggy, of Albuquerque; three grandchildren, Diana Moore and husband, William of Albuquerque, Joyce Zugelter and husband, Thomas of Vero Beach, FL, and William B. Walk and wife, Laura of Albuquerque; seven great-grandchildren, Bryan, Stephanie and Michael Moore, Kyle and Austen Zugelter, and Shane and Lianne Walk; and many friends. Montie was preceded in death by her husband, Cecil Walk. She was born on February 21, 1908 in Tucumcari, NM to Sidney and Addie Belle Wharton. Her father was a pioneer newspaperman and established the Camp Traveler Lodge on First Street in Tucumcari. Montie graduated from Tucumcari High School and attended Texas Tech University. She married Cecil Walk on December 23, 1928 and they lived their entire lives in the Tucumcari area until moving to Albuquerque in 1981. Montie was a loving mother and grandmother and will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Friends may visit French Mortuary, Wyoming Blvd. Chapel Tuesday, January 22, 2008 from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. Service will follow at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Park, 924 Menaul Blvd. NE.
