Obituary for KRANZ

Roger V. Kranz passed away peacefully January 1, 2008 after a brief illness. He was born February 10, 1938 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. He was preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Cecilia Kranz; sister, Ursula Heinz; and brother, Al Kranz. He is survived by his wife, Twyla; daughter, Paula and her husband, Stan Hall their children, April and Nicholas; son, Roger Kranz Jr. and his special friends, Eleanor, Kai and Kana Radius. He is also survived by his siblings, Adeline Flinthrop, Fred Kranz and Dennis Kranz of Wisconsin and Diana Dudding of Rio Rancho, NM; as well as many other relatives and friends. Roger was a talented athlete excelling in many sports including track, basketball, baseball and football. He came to New Mexico on a football scholarship to UNM where he proudly played for the Lobos. He went on to play professional football for the New England Patriots. Roger also honored his country by serving in the Air National Guard. After college he began a successful career in sales. For the last twenty plus years he has been employed with Rio Grande Drywall Supply. Roger was an avid fisherman and hunter. He had many other loves which included gardening, singing in the church choir, dancing, golf and being with family and friends. Known as "Big Rog" to many, his huge heart and radiant smile will be greatly missed. Viewing will take place from 6:00-7:00 p.m. with a Rosary to follow at 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, January 6, 2008 at French Mortuary Westside Chapel. A Mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday January 7, 2008 at St. Jude Thaddeus Catholic Church, 5712 Paradise NW.
