Obituary for SYLVESTER

Donell D. Sylvester, 84, went to be with the Lord Tuesday, January 1, 2008. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Dora Sylvester; his children, Nancy Donett Brown and husband, Bill, John Sylvester and wife, Debbie, Mary Dell Saling and husband, Jim; grandchildren, Deonne Brown, Nathan Brown and wife, Karen, Piper Wild, Aaron Cravens and wife, Margot; and four great-grandchildren. Don was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters; one brother; and son, Durwin Kent. He received his Bachelor's of Science in soil conservation from the University of Nebraska and his Master's Degree in Range Management from the University of Wyoming. Mr. Sylvester started work as a rural school teacher, worked for the Soil Conservation Service in Nebraska, then Wyoming and finished his career as New Mexico State Range Conservationist before retiring in 1984. After retirement, he worked part time for Holistic Resource Management and even traveled to Africa with Christian Veterinary Mission. He was a member of Heights First Church of the Nazarene and Palo Duro Philatelic Society. He was a family man of great integrity, served God with his life and will be greatly missed. Services will be Friday, January 4, 2007, 1:00 p.m., at Heights First Church of the Nazarene, 8401 Paseo Del Norte, with burial to take place in Wilsonville, Nebraska at a later date.
