Obituary for ORTIZ

Juan Ortiz went home to be with the Lord on December 14, 2007 at the age of 90. He was born on January 7, 1917 in Las Vegas, New Mexico to Felipe and Bernadita Ortiz. Juan was a very caring and dedicated husband to Anita for 62 years. He retired from Sandia Labs. Juan treasured his time spent visiting and playing with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Juan enjoyed keeping his yard immaculate and he served as an usher for Our Lady of Sorrows Church for many years. He was preceded in death by his wife, Anita Garcia Ortiz, his sons, Phillip and Robert Ortiz, his mother, Bernadita Ortiz and father, Felipe Ortiz and his brother, Joe Ortiz. He is survived by his sons, Orlando Ortiz and wife, Gregoria and Henry Ortiz and wife, Beatrice; his siblings, Arthur Ortiz and Mary Ellen Garcia; his sisters-in-law, Margaret Ortiz, Minerva Garcia, Frances Garcia, Angie Garcia and Lollie Garcia. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Anna Swanson and husband, Louis, Phillip Ortiz and wife, Jessica, Patricia McCarthy and husband, Steve, Robert Ortiz and wife, Michala, Monica Vanetsky, and husband, Scott, Sabrina Ortiz, and Karissa Romero and husband, Christopher, his great-grandchildren; Patrick, Nichole and Louis Swanson, Christine Victorin and husband, Scott Key, Denise Victorin, Oliva McCarthy, Malena and Marcus Ortiz, Chris and Alyssa Garcia, Lucianita Ortiz, Marianna and Terry Valenti, Giovanna Vanetsky, Kekoa Bullough, Rafael, Reyna, and Marciela Romero, along with many nieces and nephews. He will be missed by all. Visitations for Juan will be on Tuesday, December 18, 2007 between 6:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. with a Rosary to follow at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church. Final visitations will be on Wednesday, December 19, 2007 between 12:30 p.m. and 1:00 p.m. with Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 1:00 p.m. also at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church. Interment for Juan will be at the Our Lady of Sorrows Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Phillip Ortiz, Robert Ortiz, Chris Romero, Scott Vanetsky, Rafael Juan Romero, Kekoa Bullough and Terry Valenti III.
