Obituary for BATEMAN

Ralph Bateman, 87, died on Wednesday, December 5, 2007, at the VA Medical Center in Albuquerque, New Mexico. He was preceded in death by his brothers: Robert, William, and Rupert; and sister, Jane Taggart. Survivors include Ralph's beloved wife of 61 years: Patricia (Finnegan) and loving children - son: Peter Bateman and wife, Diana of Albuquerque and their children, Dina, Sarah, Jennifer, and Daniel Martinez; son: Dean Bateman of Atascadero, CA; and daughter, Deborah Bateman of Albuquerque and her daughter, Michaela. Ralph was born on May 6, 1920, in Downers Grove, IL and lived there until 1985. He served with the US Navy in the Pacific during World War II and was a member of American Legion Post 80 in Downers Grove, serving as commander and vice-commander. He retired in 1985 from Allstate Insurance, after more than 35 years of service with Sears and Allstate; and moved with Patricia to Prescott, Arizona, where Ralph was a dedicated member of the Lions Club and received the Lion of the Year Award for outstanding service. In 2004, Ralph and Patricia relocated to Albuquerque, NM to be close to family members. Memorial service is Saturday, December 15, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. in the Reflection of Life Chapel (Washington and Cutler NE). In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association (www.diabetes.org).
