Floyd M. Keeports, 80, died Wednesday, December 12, 2007. He is survived by his daughters, Carol E. Baird and Jane A. Keeports, both of Albuquerque. Floyd is also survived by five grandchildren, Matthew A. Saavedra and wife, Jessica of Bellevue, WA, Brent N. Baird of Justin, TX, Patrick N. Baird of Austin, TX, Rebecca J. Baird of Ft. Worth, TX, and Kristina E. Tartaglia and husband, Louis of Albuquerque; brother-in-law, Dr. Dave Mitchell and wife, Geneva; sister-in-law, Evelyn Mitchell, and their families all of New Mexico; and several cousins of Pennsylvania. He was preceded in death by his wife of 57 years, Dorie; and his infant son, Floyd Martin Keeports Jr. Floyd was born in Red Lion, PA to Clyde and Elsie Keeports where he was a graduate of Red Lion High School and then went on to graduate from the New York Institute of Photography and later attended the University of New Mexico. Floyd served his country during WWII in the US Army on the Manhattan Project and was part of the last contingent of military personnel to leave Los Alamos in 1947. He was then assigned to the Armed Forces Special Weapons Project at Sandia Base where he met his wife Dorie. Later he joined the US Atomic Energy Commission in 1948 and participated in the opening of the first civilian badge office also at Sandia Base. Floyd retired from the US Department of Energy after 35 years of federal service. He was a member of St. Johns United Methodist Church since 1950, and also a member of the National Association of Retired Federal Employees. Floyd enjoyed many years of fishing and camping with his children and grandchildren. Services will be held Saturday, December 15, 2007, 11:00 a.m., at Heights Christian Church, 6935 Comanche NE, with burial to follow at Sunset Memorial Park Cemetery.
