Obituary for SNOW

MARGERY A Memorial Service for Margery Snow will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Friday, November 23, 2007 at First Presbyterian Church with Pastor Sam Lanham officiating. Interment will follow in the First Presbyterian Columbarium after the service. There will be no visitation. Arrangements are by West Funeral Home. Margery Mathews Day Snow passed away on the morning of Sunday, November 18, 2007. She was 80 years old. She was born in Westfield, NJ, on October 23, 1927. She graduated from high school in Allentown, Pennsylvania and earned a bachelor's degree from Elmira College in New York. In 1949, she married Robert Walton Snow. They moved to Carlsbad in 1962. Margery was a member of the First Presbyterian Church and sang in the choir. She participated in swimming events with the Senior Olympics and was a regular at both San Jose and Mesa Senior Centers. She was a member of the AAUW and volunteered with the hospital auxiliary. She enjoyed all kinds of music and was a regular at Carlsbad Community Concerts. She was in a play at the Community Theatre. Painting was a life-long hobby. She recently took up quilting. While her children were growing up, she was a den mother and had been to training at Philmont Boy Scout Ranch. Later, she was a leader of a group of Camp Fire Girls. Just after her marriage, Margery worked in the Chicago loop for the telephone company. Her family moved to Cincinnati, OH and to Lexington, KY before settling in Carlsbad in 1962. She also lived in Albuquerque where she was active with the La Mesa Presbyterian Church from 1985 to 1999. Margery was preceded in death by her parents, Howard Bloodgood Day, Sr., and Martha Lawton Mathews Day; and her brother, Howard Bloodgood Day, Jr. Margery is survived by three children, William Frank (Bill) Snow of Albuquerque, Bruce Snow and wife, Cathleen Hanson Snow of Collierville, TN, and Nancy Dugger and husband, Charles Dugger of Carlsbad. She is also survived by nine grandchildren: Emily Snow Bylund and husband, Kevin of Coralville, Iowa, Isaac William Snow and wife, Rebecca Anderson Snow of Newark, CA, Jonathan Robert Snow and wife, Whitney Carlson Snow, Matthew Walton Snow, and Sarah Gwynn Snow, all of Provo, UT, Teresa Marie Snow of Collierville, TN, Erin Snow Hicks and husband, Kyle of Greeley, CO, Victoria Dugger Cirbo and husband, Justin of Parker, CO, and Charles Edmond Dugger Jr. (Chip) of Carlsbad, NM. She is also survived by two great-granddaughters: Grace Abigail Bylund and Bryce Haley Hicks.
