Joan Grace Daut, 78, a resident of Albuquerque since 1948, died November 16, 2007. She is survived by daughters, Nancy Lee Kerr of Peralta, Suzanne Marie White and Kathleen Grace Crawford and her husband, Mike, of Albuquerque; two grandsons, Jon-Michael Kerr of Surprise, AZ and Travis David Kerr of Peralta; one brother, Charles Merton "Chuck" Stentiford of Brookville, Long Island, NY; cousin, Carol McGough and her husband, Tom, of Greensboro, NC; nephews, Don Daut and his wife, Jan, and Dave Daut and his wife, Bitsy and their families; nieces, Heather Pollinger and her husband, Richard and Debbie Pancer and her husband, Jeff and their families. Joan was preceded in death by her loving husband, Francis X. "Frank" Daut; parents, Charles and Grace Stentiford; sister-in-law, Ina Stentiford; brother-in law, Jack Daut and his wife, Beverly; and niece, Linda Funnell. Joan was also preceded in death by her best friend of almost 60 years, Dorie Keeports. Joan was born in Freeport, Long Island, NY, on July 6, 1929 and attended grammar school and Hempstead High School in Hempstead, NY. She graduated in June 1946. She married Frank on September 6, 1948 and they moved to Albuquerque. Joan was an original member of Our Lady of Fatima Parish. She enjoyed traveling, playing bridge, fishing, gardening, and designing flower arrangements. In the 1960s, Joan was a member of Epsilon Sigma Alpha sorority, Gamma Rho Chapter. In March 1961, Joan was crowned ESA Sweetheart. She was a member of Uptown Garden Club from 1963 until her death. She was a nationally accredited flower show Master Judge. She held several offices in Garden Council. She was District I Director in 1985/1986. She was a chairwoman of the New Mexico State Fair flower shows. Joan was a volunteer at St. Joseph's Hospital from 1965 until the 1990s. She was an avid Lobo and Denver Broncos fan. She loved watching NASCAR's Jeff Gordon. She especially enjoyed car trips with Frank--they visited 49 states, Canada and Mexico. Joan's family and friends were the most important part of her life and she so loved and enjoyed being with them. Visitation will be held at French Mortuary, University Blvd. Chapel, on Monday, November 26, 2007 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Mass will be celebrated with Monsignor Frances X. Eggert, Celebrant, on Tuesday, November 27, 2007, 10:00 a.m., at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church, 4020 Lomas NE, Albuquerque. Interment will take place at 1:30 p.m. at Santa Fe National Cemetery. Pallbearers are Chuck Stentiford, Jon-Michael Kerr, Travis Kerr, Mike Crawford, Mike Kerr, and Mark Kerr. Honorary pallbearers are Don Daut, Dave Daut, Floyd Keeports, Rudy Krall, Ed Brass, Frank Hines, and Harry Schreiber.
