Stanley J. Baron, 88, loving husband, dad, and grandpa, went to be with the Lord Saturday, November 17, 2007. He was born in Holyoke, MA, one of six children of Mary and John Bajowski, who immigrated from Poland. He was raised in West Springfield, MA, where at age 20 he enlisted in the Army Air Corps and was sent to Chanute AFB in Rantoul, IL for training. His military career included service in WWII (stateside and Okinawa) and assignments in Texas, California, France, Massachusetts, Korea, and New Mexico. Stanley retired from the Air Force at the rank of Chief Warrant Officer 4 in 1968. His last duty assignment was with the 4925th Field Maintenance Squadron at Kirtland. His military career was in airframe repair, fabrications, and metal working. He continued his career as a civilian doing similar work for the Air Force at Chanute AFB and Kirtland AFB, where he retired from Civil Service in 1981. Throughout his life, Stanley enjoyed traveling, camping, fishing, golfing, bowling, and "projects" around the house. He loved spending time with family and friends at home and at church, where he was very active at Highland, Hoffmantown, and Sandia Baptist over a period of 40 years. He is survived by his loving wife, Grace; son, Paul Baron and wife, Carole; daughter, Mary McPeters and husband, Lloyd; grandchildren, Julie Ellis and husband, John, Jill Baron and husband, Chris Winch, Scott Baron, and Katie Stephens and husband, Shane; two great-grandchildren; brothers, Ted Bajowski and wife, Joan and Frank Bajowski and wife, Jenny; and many other family members. Services will be held Sunday, November 25, 2007, 2:00 p.m., at French Mortuary, Wyoming Blvd. Chapel. Interment will take place Monday, November 26, 2007, 10:00 a.m., at Santa Fe National Cemetery. Friends may visit French Mortuary, Wyoming Blvd. Chapel, Saturday, November 24, 2007 from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the building fund at Sandia Baptist Church, 9429 Constitution NE, Albuquerque, NM 87112.
