Obituary for SIMPSON

Published in the Albuquerque Journal on Saturday November 17, 2007

James Edward Simpson, our beloved Jimmy went home to Heaven on Monday, November 12, 2007. Jimmy was a wonderful husband, father, brother, grandfather, and friend. He was born on August 23, 1925 in Globe, AZ and raised in Quemado, NM, relocating to Albuquerque in 1950. He served his country in WWII, stationed in Germany as a radio technician. He received a Master's Degree in Electrical Engineering from UNM and worked in the field for over 40 years at Sandia Labs. Although Jimmy had a wide variety of interests; dancing with his wife, playing softball well in to his 70s, bowling on a league until just last year and tinkering with anything that needed fixing, his true passion was the Lord and his family. Jimmy would sit at the piano and play hymns, rejoicing as he worshipped through song. He loved the occasions when he was able to gather with his brothers to play his guitar and harmonica, reveling in the music they all loved so much. He adored his wife and children, and his grandchildren were the light of his life. Jimmy was preceded in death by his parents, Eugene and Thelma; his first wife, Eva whom he loved dearly; his sister, Lucille; his son, Eugene; and his great-grandson, Aaron. He is survived by his loving wife, Mickey who brought joy to his later years; daughter Sharon Davis and husband Mike, daughter-in-law Brenda Simpson, daughter Karla Brannan and husband James, and son, Lionel Simpson; his brothers, Charlie Simpson, Tommy Simpson and wife, Yvonne, Walter Simpson and wife, Gina; his sisters, Sallie Ward and husband, Harold and Thelene Bell and Joe Briggs; his step-children, Claudette Thompson, Yvonne Simpson, Dianna Marozas, Renee Tourville, Bobby Tourville, Mary Stamm, and Taunya Tourville-Bennett and their families; his grandchildren, Heather Barlow and husband, Jeremy, Amber Simpson, Tarah Morerod and husband, Aaron, and Josh Brannan; great-grandchildren, Brianna and Elizabeth Griego, Juliette Baca and Seth Morerod; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Please join us in celebrating Jimmy's life this Saturday, November 17, 2007. Services will be held at French Mortuary, 10500 Lomas Blvd. NE, with a viewing at 1:00 p.m. and the Service beginning at 2:00 p.m. Jimmy's passing will leave a void in the hearts of the many people who loved him, but we know, without doubt, we'll be reunited with him one day and that this farewell is truly temporary. Until then, rest peacefully in the arms of your Savior dear Jimmy, as He's seen fit to call you home. French Mortuary, Inc. 10500 Lomas Blvd. NE 505.275.3500 www.frenchmortuary.com
