Obituary for LE FEBRE

Frank A.F. LeFebre, 91, of Wagon Mound, died Saturday, November 3, 2007 at home surrounded by his family who feel a huge void left by his departure to everlasting life. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Domie Archuleta LeFebre, his daughters: Cathy (Joe) McCachren, Eileen (Bill) Henthorn, Ruth, and Clara; sons: Francisco, Pablo (Anna), Donald (Stella), Art, Leonard (Annette) and Angelo; 15 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren; also by his sisters, Esther Sandoval, Evelyn Orosco, and Sofie LeFebre, sisters-in-law, Lena LeFebre of Santa Fe and Josie LeFebre of Albuquerque; brothers-in-law, Rudy Pacheco of Denver, CO and Joe Davalos of Albuquerque. Frank was preceded in death by his son, Eddy and two infants, George and Annette; his sisters, Alice and Toni; and brothers, Margarito and Alfonso. He was born April 3, 1916 in Ocate, NM, to the late Demetrio and Saba Martinez LeFebre. Frank was a fourth generation descendent of Manuel LeFebre, a French trapper who came to New Mexico circa 1825. As a child Frank lived in the family homestead in what is now the Charette Lakes; in 1929 the family moved east of Wagon Mound to an area close to the Canadian River called Los Paises where he lived until 1941 when he left to serve in World War II. While in the service he was first assigned to the Army's 45th Division, but before the division was sent over seas to North Africa and eventually the invasion of Europe, Frank was assigned to the Army Air Force in which he served for three years in the China/Burma/India Theater (CBI). After the war, he came back to Wagon Mound and shortly after, married Domie Archuleta in July of 1946; together they had a family of 13 children. He was the marshal for the village of Wagon Mound from 1956 until his retirement in 1981. Frank was a devout Catholic his entire life. Visitation for Mr. LeFebre will be Tuesday from 3:00 - 5:00 p.m. in the Reflection of Life Chapel (Washington and Cutler NE) with a Rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. by his son, Deacon Pablo LeFebre at St. Anne's Catholic Church. Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. by Father Bijoy Francis at St. Anne's with Burial following at the Santa Fe National Cemetery at 1:30 p.m. Pallbearers will be his sons: Donald, Art, Leonard, Angelo and his grandsons: John LeFebre, and K.C. Ray LeFebre Henthorn. Honorary Pallbearers will be his grandchildren.
