James J. Ledwith, a resident of Albuquerque since 1973, passed on to be with the Lord on Sunday, November 4, 2007. Jim was born in Brooklyn, NY 81 years ago. He was a Navy Veteran of World War II, a retired Port Authority Policeman and a retired Sergeant with Albuquerque Police Department Security. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Muriel; son, John Ledwith and daughter-in-law, Linda; daughter, Ann Melloy and son-in-law, Nick; grandchildren, Kevin Ledwith and his wife, Milly, Chris Melloy and his wife, Tammy, Lisa Lawrence and her husband, James, Jan English and her husband, Jay, and Ryan Melloy; great-grandchildren, Jason Melloy and Kaela Melloy. He was preceded in death by his parents, Dan and Mary Ledwith; his brother, Danny Ledwith; his sister, Kay Dalton; and his grandson, James Ledwith. Jim cherished his family, loved his country and many friends. He loved all animals and his many pets over the years. A Rosary will be recited on Thursday, November 8, 2007, 6:00 p.m., at French Mortuary, Wyoming Blvd. Chapel. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, November 9, 2007, 10:30 a.m., at Sangre de Cristo Catholic Church 8901 Candelaria Rd. NE. Interment will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, 7999 Wyoming Blvd. NE. Friends and family may visit French Mortuary on Wednesday, November 7, 2007, 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Jim Ledwith's memory to Children's Cancer Fund of NM, 112 14th Street SW, Albuquerque, NM 87102.
