Obituary for LORD

John H. Lord Jr. died on October 15, 2007, at his home in Albuquerque, NM after a long illness. He was born in Shreveport, LA on October 9, 1923, the son of John and Ruby Lord. He was preceded in death by his wife Imogene Boutwell Lord of Albuquerque, NM. He is survived by his son, Ronald Michael Lord and his wife, Barbara Sue Lord, of Colorado Springs, CO; his daughter, Pamela Gale Hannah, of Albuquerque, NM; four grandchildren: Michael Benjamin Lord and his wife, Devona Lord-Garcia of Chicago, IL; Penny Suszane Lord of Albuquerque; Jennifer Marie Lord of Albuquerque, and Jordan Hannah of Albuquerque; and two great-grandchildren: Alicia and Isaac Placentia of Albuquerque. After Pearl Harbor, he worked in a munitions factory until he enlisted in the Army Air Corps. Trained as an aircraft engine mechanic, he was a part of 6th Wave that landed on the Normandy beaches on D-Day. During the allied advance into France, he was promoted to Sergeant and made the Crew-Chief of a P-47 Thunderbolt "Jug". After the war, he returned to his home in Bossier City, LA where he worked in the natural gas industry and received a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from Louisiana Institute of Technology. He entered the US Air Force in 1953 and served as a developmental engineer. He retired from active duty on January 31, 1975 with 28 years of service to his country.
