Irene T. "Tootsie" Horwhat, 90, of Pottsville, died Saturday night at her home. Born in Minersville, she was a daughter of the late George and Frances Bowman Sokola. She attended Minersville schools, and lived in Pottsville all of her adult life. She has been employed by the Wearever C., Deer Lake. She was a member of St. Patrick R.C. Church in Pottsville. Preceding her in death were her husband, Paul Horwhat, Sr. on November 13, 1987, a son, George, in 2006, a daughter, Susan Nolan in 2001, three brothres, Michael, Francis and George Sokola, a sister, Frances Conshue. Surviving are a son, Paul Jr., Chapel Hill, NC; two daughters, Rachel Scott, Albuquerque, NM and Arlene Sokola, Rio Rancho; seven grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends may call at Dutcavich Funeral Home, Minersville on Wednesday from 6:00 p.m. and at St. Patrick Church on Thursday from 9:00 a.m. until 9:45 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Remembrances in the form of donations to St. Patrick Church Memorial Fund are preferred. Interment will be in Ss. Peter and Paul Byzantine Catholic Cemetery, Branch Township.
