Obituary for BAZAN

Isauro Bazan, age 91, of Albuquerque, died Monday, October 29, 2007, at Presbyterian Kaseman Hospice after a brief illness. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Helen Selner Bazan of Albuquerque, his daughter, Louise Persson of San Jose, CA; his son, Arthur Bazan of Albuquerque; two grandchildren, Celeste Bazan of Los Angeles, CA and Jon Persson of San Jose, CA; and his sisters, Luz Kalaczik of Albuquerque and Rose Marie Crowe of Australia. Mr. Bazan was preceded in death by his son, Dennis and two brothers, Joaquin and Herbert, both of Albuquerque. He was born in Santa Rosa, NM, the son of the late Joaquin A. and Guadalupe Gallegos Bazan, and graduated from St. Mary's High School in Albuquerque. Mr. Bazan was a World War II Army veteran of the conflict in North Africa and Italy. His career was dedicated to the federal civil service. He served as U.S. Deputy Marshal for 18 years, until he retired in 1976. Mr. Bazan was a skilled translator of works of poetry, fiction and non-fiction in Spanish and Italian. He provided interpretation in court proceedings in both Italy and in U.S. Federal courts. A Memorial Rosary will be recited Tuesday, November 6, 2007, 7:00 p.m., at French Mortuary, Wyoming Blvd. Chapel. A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday, November 7, 2007, 10:00 a.m., at Risen Savior Catholic Community, 7701 Wyoming Blvd. NE, with Monsignor Richard Olona and Monsignor Joaquin Bazan, con celebrants. Monsignor Joaquin Bazan is a nephew of Mr. Bazan's. Friends may visit French Mortuary, Wyoming Blvd. Chapel on Tuesday, November 6, 2007, 5:00 p.m. until the Rosary.
