Rani Irene Kalita, 60, died peacefully at her home on September 6, 2007, after a brief struggle with a brain tumor. She is survived by her beloved husband of more than 20 years, Mark Irwin; her sister, Deborah Kalita, and her husband, Mike; her brother, David Kalita; and many nieces and nephews. A graduate from St. Johns College, she attended UNM's College of Architecture, and worked at Summit Electric for more than 20 years. She sang with the Albuquerque Women's Choral Ensemble and was a regular blood donor, earning a 15 gallon pin. Many people have been recipients of her thoughtfulness and generosity, and she was loved by all who knew her. Her infectious smile and brown eyes conveyed pure joy and love. A Memorial Service will be held on September 22, 2007, 11 a.m., at 1st Congregation UCC on Girard. In lieu of flowers, please make donations in Rani's memory to St. John's College, Santa Fe.
