Obituary for MERICLE

Iris L. Mericle, 87, beloved and cherished wife, mother, grandmother, and sister, went to be with our Lord on Saturday, August 11, 2007. Iris was born December 24, 1919 the daughter of Claude and Minnie Gerrish Pull in Kenosha, WI. The Mericle family moved to Albuquerque in 1947 from Zion, IL. Iris worked as an LPN for several years, then went to college at age 50 and earned her RN degree. She worked and retired from Presbyterian Hospital. Her passions in life were gardening and cooking. She was a kind and gentle person, loved and respected by all who knew her. She taught her family the meaning of unconditional love. Iris was preceded in death by her husband, Jesse, after 65 years of marriage; her parents, Claude and Minnie; and one granddaughter, Angie Mericle. She is survived by four children, Jerry and wife, Sue, Harry and wife, Yukie, Tim (loving caregiver), and Lynn Chirigos and husband, Dean; five grandchildren, Tim Chirigos, Tina Marcus, Vicky Houghton, Scott Mericle, and Tami Schaefer; 11 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren; sister, Arlene Gesell and husband, Elmer; three nieces, Sherry Binyon, Linda Anheirer, and Chris Anderson. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, August 25, 2007 at 10:00 a.m. in the Chapel of Daniels Family Funeral Services, Sara Rd. at Meadowlark Ln., Rio Rancho.
