Obituary for LONG

Joseph Dahlgren Long, Jr., 85, a resident of Albuquerque since 1952, passed away on Saturday, August 11, 2007. He was preceded in death by Elizabeth, his loving wife of 58 years. Joe is survived by his sister, Anna Mae Herdman; four children, Janice, Joe and wife, Cheryl, Robert and wife, Stephanie, and Steve and wife, Patricia; four grandchildren, Lisa, JoAnne, Danielle, and Melissa; and five great-grandchildren, Emerson, Aiden, Anneliese, Jacob, and Torin. He was born in Monroe, IA and attended Iowa State University, following which he spent several years in the United States Navy during World War II. Joe met Elizabeth after WWII in Ames, IA. They were introduced by his sister, married in 1947, and later moved to Albuquerque. He was an Architectural Engineer and worked in New Mexico for 35 years, establishing his firm, Long and Waters, in 1966. He was an avid golfer and loved to paint watercolors. A Service with a reception will be held on Wednesday, August 22, 2007 at 1:00 p.m. at French Mortuary, Westside Chapel, 9300 Golf Course Rd. NW. Immediately following the reception, interment will take place at Sunset Memorial Park, 924 Menaul Blvd. NE.
