Obituary for KENNEDY

Jerry Dean Kennedy died Monday at the age of 73 after a short illness. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Lynn W. Kennedy; his daughter, Kimberley D. Kennedy; his son, Michael R. Kennedy and wife, Wendy R. Kennedy; a granddaughter, Siera Lynn Sporleder; and a great-grandson, Jay Anthony Baca, all of Albuquerque, and a sister, Martha Jane Goodenough, of Tyler, TX. Dr. Kennedy was born in Oklahoma City, OK, on June 23, 1934, to Roy and Mildred Kennedy. He was educated at the University of Oklahoma, the University of California, and Lehigh University. He earned his doctor's degree in physics at Lehigh in 1963, and moved with his family to Albuquerque, where he spent his entire career working at Sandia Laboratories. His work was primarily in the fields of Full-Scale Testing and Safeguards. He retired in 1992, and he and his wife moved in 1995 to St. Eustatius, a small Caribbean island, where they lived until ill health forced his return to Albuquerque. His hobbies in recent years included woodworking and digital photography.
