Esther Lucille Nelson Holste, 97, passed away Thursday, Aug. 2 at her home in Rio Rancho. Esther was born Dec. 7, 1909, in Portal, N.D., and moved with her family to Minneapolis at age 10. She graduated from the University of Minnesota in 1934. Esther was a school librarian for 30 years. She retired in 1975 and began her second career as a volunteer with the Rio Rancho Public Library, work she enjoyed into her 90s. She is survived by sons, Loren, David and Peter (Glenda); sister, Sadie Kreilkamp; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and 24 nephews and nieces. She was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Merrill. Friends may call at Esther's home from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m., Tuesday, Aug. 7. Memorials to the Rio Rancho Public Library
