Obituary for VALTIERRA

Epifanio S. Valtierra, 73, a resident of Albuquerque for more than ten years, passed away at the family home, surrounded by his loving family. Mr. Valtierra was born on January 14, 1934 to Encarnacion and Gregoria Valtierra of El Paso, TX. He will be remembered for his love of baseball and his service to his country. Mr. Valtierra played centerfield for several baseball teams and opted to serve in the United States Navy rather than playing professional baseball. Upon completion of his service in the military, he returned to Anthony, TX and worked as a laborer on a farm. Eventually, Mr. Valtierra became the farm foreman because of his skills and hard work. He is survived by his sister, Paula V. Garcia of Albuquerque; Josefina S. Valtierra of Albuquerque; Feliciano Valtierra and wife, Olga, of El Paso, TX; and Ramona Dominguez of Anthony, NM. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. A special thank you is extended to Johnny and Tita Gomez for their constant support and care for their uncle. Mr. Valtierra's care was graciously given by many members of the family, as well. A Viewing and Visitation will be held on Wednesday, August 8, from 6:00 PM until 8:00 p.m. at the Chapel of Daniels Family Funeral Services, 7601 Wyoming Blvd. NE. A Graveside service and Military Honors will be held on Thursday, August 9, at 11:00 a.m. at Mt. Calvary Cemetery, 1900 Edith Blvd. NE.
