Obituary for LICHTENFELS

Ann M. Lichtenfels, 86, peacefully passed away July 29, 2007 at La Posada Mesilla Valley Hospice. She was born July 20, 1921 in Chicago, IL to Thomas and Emma Haugh. Ann married John Lichtenfels November 6, 1943 in Chicago. In 1949, they relocated to South Bend, IN where they raised their family of five children. After her husband's death in 1989, Ann divided her time between South Bend and Las Cruces, NM. She relocated permanently to Las Cruces in 1998. Ann was a loving wife and mother who took great pride in her family. She enjoyed golfing, cooking and entertaining. She cherished her extended family and the many close friendships she formed during her life. She is survived by her daughters, Candice Lichtenfels and husband Tim Hartzer of Albuquerque, NM; Jenifer Lichtenfels, and husband Dan Howard of Las Cruces, NM; her sons, Jeffrey Lichtenfels, and wife Gloria of South Bend, IN; Thomas Lichtenfels, and wife Theresa of Steamboat Springs, CO. Ann has ten grandchildren, Brendan Addis, Denver, CO; Justin Addis, Charlotte, NC; Evan Lichtenfels, Denver, CO; Kristian Lichtenfels, Steamboat Springs, CO; Christopher Lichtenfels, South Bend, IN; Brittany and Reid Howard, Albuquerque, NM; Michelle, Emma and Margaret Lichtenfels, Steamboat Springs, CO. She has four great-grandchildren. Ann was preceded in death by her husband, John; her parents; her son, Reid; her brothers, Thomas and William; and, her infant grandson, John. A memorial reception celebrating her life is planned in South Bend, IN at Morris Park Country Club from 5-7 p.m. on August 24, 2007. Graveside Service and interment will be at St. Joseph Valley Cemetery at 9 a.m., August 25, 2007. The family asks that any gifts in her memory be made to Mesilla Valley Hospice, 299 Montana, Las Cruces, NM 88005.
