Obituary for HIGHTOWER

Nellie Hightower, 95, a longtime Albuquerque resident, passed peacefully at the home of her daughter in Tucson, AZ, on July 5, 2007. She was preceded in death by her parents, Fortunato and Teresa Rino; brothers, Frank "Chico" and Fortunato "Forty"; and sisters, Rose, Francis "Fannie", Mary "May", and Margaret. She is survived by daughter, Beverly and husband, Kenneth Crawford of Tucson; and son, Charles Gardner and his wife, Carol of Rochester, NY; grandchildren, Christina, Anthony, and Michael Crawford of Tucson, Bob, Jim, and Jeff Gardner and Patty Portland, all of Rochester. She is also survived by six great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews who were very special to her. Nellie will always be remembered as a very independent and strong willed woman who worked hard her whole life even into her eighties. She was always very giving to those around her and no matter what time of the day or night company would drop by she would always make sure they were VERY well fed. As the matriarch of the Rino family her presence in the family will be greatly missed. A celebration of Nellie's life will be held graveside at Trinidad Masonic Cemetery in Trinidad, CO on July 20, 2007 at 2 p.m.
