Obituary for ROMERO

Published in the Albuquerque Journal on Sunday June 17, 2007

Connie (Maria Concepcion) Romero, born December 8, 1928 in El Rancho de San Antonio, NM, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, June 13, 2007, surrounded by her beloved family and friends at home. She endured Parkinson's disease for over eight years with courage, faith, dignity, and grace. Even though she endured painful and frustrating moments she never complained, and always had a smile on her face and a great sense of humor. Connie was a talented bridge player, seamstress, cook, and oil painter, but her proudest accomplishment was raising her four children, and spending time with her granddaughter Alyssa. Connie was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Antonio (Tony) Romero. She is survived by her daughters, Sandra Ortega and husband, Randy of Albuquerque, Terri Burgess and husband, Ron of Las Cruces; sons, Anthony Romero of Albuquerque and Steven Romero of Atlanta, GA; sisters, Ruth Montoya, Eralia Mead, Rosalina Gomez; brother, Jose A. Romero; and numerous nephews and nieces. We wish to thank her special doctor, Suzanne Pinon, and Nurse Patty Mork of Heritage Hospice, who provided her with compassionate care and love. She had many former and current caregivers who became a part of our family, Carmen Lowe, Lahzin Tenzin and family, and Adriana Solis. Connie will be deeply missed and forever in our hearts and lives. Rosary will be held at French Mortuary - Lomas Chapel, 10500 Lomas NE, on Tuesday, June 19, 2007 at 6:00 p.m. Mass will take place at Our Lady of Annunciation Catholic Church, 2532 Vermont NE, on Wednesday, June 20, 2007 at 8:30 a.m. Interment will follow at Santa Fe National Cemetery.
