Myrna was born on February 24, 1949 and raised in Waipahu, HI. Myrna first came to New Mexico as an exchange student from the University of Hawaii and worked at the Institute of American Indian Arts in Santa Fe as a resident assistant. After graduating from the University of Hawaii, she moved to New Mexico where she met and fell in love with her husband, Robert, while working in Albuquerque. Myrna and Robert were married on October 12, 1974. Together while raising their three children, they spent 31 years as educators in the Navajo communities of Pine Hill and Na' Neelzhiin. As a teacher, she poured her soul into committing her heart into motivating and bringing out the best of talents in each of her students. As a friend, Myrna, through her loving hands, she cooked, she danced, she brought together her friends and weaved them into a family. As a mother, from their births, her beauty has been carried in the hearts of her children. Together with her husband, they built a home filled with love, spirituality, laughter, and affection. The love and passion between Myrna and Bob touched everyone around them. As best friends, they lived together, worked together, played together, and used the power of their love to share their blessings with others.
