Obituary for CALVERLEY

Published in the Albuquerque Journal on Sunday June 03, 2007

Hazel Calverley, 94, passed away on May 28, 2007. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Kyle and husband, John. Ms. Calverley is survived by her two grandsons, Thomas Kirvin and Sean Kirvin of Hot Springs, AR. She moved to Albuquerque from Texas with her family when she was nine years old and fell in love with New Mexico. Ms. Calverley graduated from the old AHS in 1932. Her pride and joy was a little "strip-down" car painted green and white school colors which made its appearance in all the school parades down Central Ave. For many years, Ms. Calverly was employed at the Albuquerque Theatre for Miss Hatton, Mr. Scotti and Mr. Eaberg and found working in the office of the Kimo most interesting as it was there that she met many of the stars who appeared on the stage during those times. She ended her working career for many years in a most interesting classified position at Sandia Base, retiring in 1962. After retirement, Ms. Calverley and her husband, John spent many happy years at home in Ute Lake, Silver City, Hot Springs, AR, Ruidoso and Albuquerque.
